Here is my simple, delicious recipe for chocolate chip banana bread. I like to make mini loaves of this bread for hostess gifts or to add to Holiday gift baskets. Another idea: Wrap a half dozen of these in plastic wrap and then wrap in a tea towel. Tie closed with a pretty ribbon. Place on a tea tray along with a tin of tea, a jar of sugar and spice honey butter, a copy of the tea loaf recipe, some pretty napkins and a few taper candles tied together with raffia or twine. Wrap the entire gift with clear cellophane and tie the top with another pretty ribbon or more raffia.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

In a large bowl, Combine:

1 cup softened butter

1 cup sour cream

2 cups sugar

4 eggs

6 ripe bananas, mashed

2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

Mix well. Add:

3 cups all purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking soda

1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

Mix until just combined. Add:

1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips and mix to combine.

Pour into two 9×5 loaf pans that have been sprayed with Baker’s Joy (or buttered and floured.)

Bake for 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaves comes clean.

Enjoy!
