Hello, Friends!

Are you ready for a healthy, delicious, amazing dessert idea? You may have seen chocolate hummus at different stores like Trader Joes, Aldi, and specialty food stores and wondered what in the heck it was. The first time I saw it in the store my first reaction was NO. Beans and chocolate? No thank you.

Then a friend of mine urged me to try it. I was skeptical until I took a bite. It tastes EXACTLY like brownie batter! I was hooked, and determined to recreate it in my kitchen. It really is so good, easy to make, and relatively healthy when compared to actual brownie batter, or cookie dough. The only thing not healthy is the sugar content. But hey, you have to live a little. Especially during the holiday season, right?

Make up a batch of this decadent chocolate brownie batter hummus and serve it with your favorite fruits, marshmallows, cookies, pretzels, cinnamon pita chips, or graham crackers.

1 (15 oz.) can organic black beans

4 Tablespoons almond butter

1/3 cup organic, unsweetened cocoa powder

1/4 cup pure maple syrup

1/4 cup coconut sugar

3 Tablespoons plant milk (soy, oat, almond… whatever you like)

2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt

Drain and rinse black beans very well. Add them, along with all the other ingredients, to the bowl of a food processor. Process until very smooth. Transfer to a small serving bowl. Chill for at least an hour. Serve.

Store in the refrigerator, in a well sealed container, for up to a week.

Enjoy!
