riverside picnic
We were trying to figure out a good place to go to dinner last night where we could sit outside. There are a few places in Red Wing, but in the end we decided to pack a picnic and head to the riverside. We stopped at the market and picked up a rotisserie chicken, French bread, dipping oil, some of our favorite Beemster cheddar cheese, Fall Harvest Cinnamon Apple preserves (that tastes like Dutch apple pie in a jar!), and Nut Goodie candybars for dessert…we brought salads in a jar from home (spring greens, fresh plum chunks, and a drizzle of my homemade kicky raspberry vinaigrette), a couple bottles of wine including THIS one which was very reasonably priced and completely lovely for a picnic or dinner al fresco. Everything tasted so good and it was so relaxing compared to sitting on a crowded restaurant patio.
Gracie had fun feeding the seagulls the rest of our bread…we watched barges and boats lazily pass on the river and enjoyed the shade and eachothers’ company.
When’s the last time you went on a picnic?

This sounds lovely!! I am planning a picnic with friends right now. Thanks for all the wonderful ideas!
Hi Sheila! thanks for visiting 🙂 so pleased this post was inspiring to you. have a lovely picnic!
Oh my, that bread and chicken! I love eating out in the open air… as long as there’s no bugs wandering all over the place, it’s always so much more fun than sitting at a table!
I agree Charles! I was just telling the hubby that we have to have another picnic soon….I simply MUST try those shooter sandwiches of yours! 🙂 xo
