Yummy! Who doesn’t love an excellent ice cream sundae with a premium hot fudge poured over the top of it? You have to indulge from time to time, and when I do, I go all out!

This is the authentic, original recipe for the famous Ben & Jerry’s Hot Fudge! Since this recipe does take a bit of time to make I doubled the recipe in Ben & Jerry’s cookbook.

4 oz. unsweetened chocolate bar

1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter

12 Tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

2 cups sugar

1/2 cup whole milk

1/2 cup heavy whipping cream

Melt chocolate and butter, stirring frequently, in the top of a large double boiler over simmering water. Add cocoa powder, whisking until dissolved. Using a slotted spoon, gradually stir in sugar. The mixture will be the consistency of wet sand. Cook, stirring occasionally, over simmering water for 20 minutes. Replenish water in the bottom of the double boiler as necessary. Gradually stir in milk and cream. Continue to stir until completely blended. Continue to cook, occasionally stirring and checking water, for approximately 1 hour. Fudge is ready when it’s completely smooth and sugar is dissolved. Store in a glass jar with a tight fitting lid in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Enjoy!
