Typically a “toddy” is used as an elixir to soothe the symptoms of the common cold. I decided to create an elixir to soothe frazzled nerves after a marathon stint of holiday shopping at the mall, fighting for a parking spot, elbowing your way through crowds of crazy shoppers, putting up with snotty sales clerks, braving hour-long lines and finally, exhausted, you stumble into your house.

After you’re safely inside, these are your instructions: Put on your pajamas, play something relaxing on your sound system (not necessarily Christmas music), light candles and/or a fire in your fireplace, and make yourself one of these….

2 Tablespoons sugar

2 Tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

pinch of ground ginger

pinch of ground cloves

1 cup of heated whole milk

1 shot Irish whiskey OR brandy

honey (for mug rim)

rainbow sprinkles (for mug rim)

lots of marshmallows and/or whipped cream

teddy grahams

Squirt a thin line of honey around the rim of your mug. Place some sprinkles on a saucer or dessert plate and moosh the edge of the mug into them so they stick to the honey.

Mix cocoa and spices in mug. Mix in heated milk. Stir in whiskey/brandy. Top with a bunch of whipped cream and/or marshmallows. Sprinkle on some of the teddy graham cookies. Enjoy!

PS… If you’re making this for the kiddos or for teetotalers, simply omit the alcohol and replace it with 1/4 teaspoon of rum extract. 🙂 XOXO

Cheers!
