For a beautifully scented home, combine:

1 or 2 cinnamon sticks

1 teaspoon ginger

1 teaspoon nutmeg

1 teaspoon peppercorns

1 teaspoon whole or ground cloves

1 to 2 Tablespoons (or more) orange peel or zest

a few drops of pure vanilla extract

Place the spices and orange peel in a saucepan along with a few cups of water. Bring to a boil and then lower to a very low simmer. Enjoy the spicy, natural scents and add water as needed.

Hi Melissa – So, once this is cooled, do we add it to a spritzer bottle to use as an air freshener? Sorry if I missed something!

Hi Sarah 🙂 No, you don’t add it to a bottle… you just let the spices and water simmer on the stove. It will fill your house with the lovely scents of autumn and it will also add extra moisture to your rooms… which can be nice in the colder months 🙂 ~M
