thrift store score

It had been awhile since I went on a thrift store bender, and when I saw this amazing deal on Country Fare pottery mugs and saucers I knew it was time. I bought 5 and gave one to my Jana. They are gorgeous! They usually go for between $10 and $20 a piece. Did I pay that? No, I did not. $2.50 a piece. NOT kidding! YAY!

I love these so much.

My new favorite vessels for morning tea.

Speaking of tea…

I bought this sweet tray too.

Love my red and white.

Cute for summer parties, no?

and, of course, I couldn’t leave without looking at the

BOOKS!

Had to have these.

I opened this in the store and started reading…

Such beautiful imagery, I couldn’t put it down…

perfect with a cup of iced tea on the front porch…

I came across this quote about thrift, or being “thrifty.”

“Industry, thrift and self-control are not sought because they create wealth, but because they create character.”~Calvin Coolidge

I like it.

What treasures have you found while thrifting?

  1. Those are beautiful!! I love turquoise and brown. I wish I could handle pottery and china. It’s always so beautiful. (I drop things ALL the time, so I rarely take chances with good stuff like china & glassware.) I love thrift store finds. I’m in the mood to shop again now. LOL

    1. Thanks Kimber! I really like them too. I could hardly believe my luck. Although living in a town with TONS of antique store shopping, I think some of the “good stuff” trickles down to the thrift stores every so often. I felt lucky to find these. Some of the teacups I’ve found have been OUTSTANDING finds. I almost want to walk up to the counter and say “Don’t you know you could charge way more for this Royal Aynsley?” hee hee…but I don’t. 😉

  2. Great finds! I especially love the cups.

Today, at a rummage sale, I got a vintage chair in what I’ll call the Barnes and Noble style. You know, those big comfy reading chairs? It’s red vinyl with no tears. AND it has a matching ottoman.

Did I mention the red vinyl?

    Score!

  3. I LOVE those kind of finds. Every once in awhile I get them at garage sales or thrift stores, and it totally makes my day!!! You’re right, I kinda want to say something – but don’t. LOL
