Stone Barn Pizza – Nelson Wisconsin
Today we visited a fantastic open air pizza restaurant in Nelson Wisconsin called the Stone Barn. The drive from Red wing was beautiful. We love Wisconsin’s Great River Road.
The stone barn was built in 1896. Set in the Mississippi river valley and surrounded by sweeping farmland and bluffs.
We had the “Supreme” pizza from the Stone Barn’s woodfire-brick oven. It had that great, authentic Italian pizza flavor, and the toppings were outstanding. The Stone Barn also has a nice wine list. My only complaint-drinking my wine from a plastic tumbler 😉 We enjoyed Chocolate Shoppe ice cream for dessert, which is always a treat.
What a gorgeous setting!
We’ll definitely be back…and we’ll be trying the Greek pizza.
What are you up to this weekend friends?

Looks good! Cochrane, Wisconsin also has wood fired pizza.
The wood fire pizza oven restaurants seem to be a new trend! Stockholm WI, Nelson, Cochrane…and soon, our friends from Falconer Vineyards will have one! Love it!
mmmmm…… pizza! 😀 😀 😀
Gracie,
I am with you, I love pizza, but it has to be done just right and with the right toppings to make it excellent.
GIMME SOME! I will definitely be adding them to my list of places to check out! Thanks so much for this post – now I’m hungry again. 🙂
