I think that’s how it goes…

You can’t make everybody happy all of the time… I think that’s how the saying goes.

I lost a reader today. She actually found fault with my happy little blog. Imagine that! It’s written by a human. 🙂 I wasn’t going to bother saying anything, but after deleting the entire blog, I wondered why I did so. We aren’t all going to agree on everything all the time. The blog was about something other than knitting and food. I guess real, heartfelt subjects are just too much for some people.

This quote is for you should you pass this way again…

“We plant seeds that will flower as results in our lives, so best to remove the weeds of anger, avarice, envy and doubt…” ~Dorothy Day

  1. I just wanted to say first of all, that I LOVE LOVE LOVE your blog!! I’ve been reading it and think I caught up on almost all the entries now. It’s great.

Secondly, I wanted to say OMG to the last entry. Obvioiusly I don’t have all the details, but I can’t believe that someone left you over an entry they didn’t “approve” of. Truly?? – people, please!!

Third, I wanted to say please don’t ever give yourself up like that again. You deleted your post and it’s your blog. You are a fabulous person and you shouldn’t doubt your own words like that. They are your thoughts & feelings, and they are a part of you. She/He took that when you gave it up over their disapproval and that makes me sad. I don’t know you well, but I like to think well enough to know this was out of the ordinary because I think you are probably the most grounded, true to themselves people I know and I imagine you don’t normally let other people control you like that.

Because of these things, I have come to respect you immensely and continue to look forward to your blog entries!

    1. Thanks so much Kimber, your response really touched my heart 🙂 I agree, it makes me a little sad that I second guessed myself too and panicked when I got a negative reply to a blog. That was just silly! Rest assured, it won’t happen again.

      Love,
      Melissa

  2. Melissa – I really enjoyed the blog “such things to be” and I don’t understand how ANYONE with functioning brain and a working heart could say anything bad about it. What a shame that small minded people make the rest of feel we need to censor ourselves. And what a shame that someone would stop reading such wonderful work just because they disagree with what was written. I guess it’s a good thing this wasn’t in a book, or there might be a “good old fashioned book burning” scheduled.

    1. Than you so much for your comment! I really appreciate it when my readers take the time to leave comments, especially on subjects such as this.

      Love,
      Melissa

  3. Melissa,
Since I did the article on you and your books I have been following your blog and I am not one who has the time to even think of doing a blog or let alone read one, but I do take the time out of my busy schedule to read your blog and another of an old friend and I will be doing an article on her as well. And thank you for the correction on the Hardees not Burger King…Old age is creeping up and taking the memory away. Great Job! You know like I you can’t please everyone all of the time, just part of the time..

  4. Sandy,
I am so honored that you take the time to read my blog. I know you’re busy. That really means a lot to me.

    You are wise 🙂

    XO,
    Melissa
