wine tasting notes ~ fetzer gewurztraminer
We enjoyed this delicious, floral, fruity wine with our Thanksgiving dinner this year. It was the perfect accompaniment!
~ Wine Maker’s Notes ~
The wine is a deep golden straw color, with a nose of dried apricot, spicy peach, with a touch of rose petal and honeysuckle. The crisp green apple, honeyed apricot and peach flavors meld with the traditional spicy flavors of Gewurztraminer. This medium-bodied wine’s off dry style strikes the perfect balance between its sweetness and bright crisp acidity. A versatile wine, it pairs nicely with spicy Asian cooking as well as grilled chicken and fish.
Have you tried any good wines lately?

You know, after seeing this I decided to make a point of going to the website for a nationwide chain of wine stores here. You can even order online and have it delivered to your door. So – I tapped in the address… I almost fell off my chair… not. a. single. wine from the US. What the heck is going on? Seriously… click on “Vins du Monde” in the menu on the left. Unbelievable 🙁 I find the French unbelievably arrogant when it comes to wine. Most people don’t think this “new-fangled Australian/American/Spanish stuff” is worth the bottle it’s contained in which is a real shame. People like me end up missing out on a lot 🙁
That’s so sad! This reminds me of a movie I watched about a year ago that touches on this subject. You may have seen it, it’s called “Bottle Shock.” All about the arrogance of the French when it comes to wine.
