north shore adventure ~ day 2

On the second day of our North Shore adventure…

We went to a nearby resort for breakfast. Their little restaurant is called Moguls.

Great atmosphere. Fabulous food!

I had the Benny (my favorite)…

and an iced tea with lemon (of course!)

Jeff had the steak and eggs…

and Gracie had the “Bunny Rabbit” pancake.

Let me just say…

Unless the rabbit pancake artist in the kitchen knows about a scary rabbit breed I have never seen…

This does not look like a rabbit.

I think it looks like

Spitfire.

I think they should just call it the Spitfire pancake.

hee hee.

Anyhoo…I guess it tasted super great.

After breakfast we headed to Grand Marais.

First stop…

The Trading Post!

Where they have so many cool camping and outdoorsy things

I am almost always convinced I want to be a camper every time I visit.

Almost.

we walked along the beautiful shore and skipped some rocks…

and stopped in at a fantastic fresh fish shop…

where we bought some delicious smoked trout

Jeff suggested we go down to the shore, and put our feet in the water while we eat it.

I thought this was a cool idea, and kind of romantic 🙂

That water is COLD!

After fish and lots of walking around…

we had to go to the doughnut shop my friend Jody told us about.

World’s Best doughnuts!

Did the chocolate covered cake doughnut live up to the name?

Oh yes it did!

Best doughnuts EVER!

We headed back to Eagle Ridge Resort

so we could take a gondola ride to the top of Moose mountain.

What a fun experience!

What an amazing view!

after a couple drinks…we took the journey back down the mountain…

We ended the day with another great dinner on the deck of the resort restaurant,

and another moonlight swim.

Do you have a fun vacation or getaway planned?

          1. Watched an episode last night! Oh my gosh! fantastic! Have you seen Mildred Pierce? One of the best mini series I’ve seen in a long time.

  1. Beautiful. What a fun day….now I want some fish and donuts. 😉 We don’t have any trips planned at the moment, but have been talking about possibilities for our first true family vacation next summer….most likely camping somewhere but we shall see. 🙂

      1. It looks like it….I’ve always wanted to do that…my love of the mountains seems to outweigh my fear of heights. 🙂

  2. No trips here either, although I did take a week off at the end of the year to attempt one. I love seeing all your trips though – your pictures are so vivid, that it brings us there with you!! Thanks again for sharing all of these!!

    1. where will you go? I love the planning as much as the adventure itself! you’re welcome for the posts of my little getaways. My hope is to give people an idea of what these places are like so they can plan little adventures of their own. xo
