October is our wedding anniversary month, and we pretty much celebrate from the 1st until the 31st. This year we’re celebrating our 20th, so we decided to make it extra special by throwing an intimate, casual soiree at our home. Here are some scenes from the month so far…

kittens frolicking in the dappled light on the back porch ~ strolling around the annual Red Wing Fall Festival of the Arts ~ pink food tucks ~ bbq beef brisket ~ chicken burritos ~ chocolaty iced mochas from Caribou Coffee ~ a long “leaf peeping” autumn walk along the streets of gorgeous downtown Red Wing ~ an anniversary wine lunch at a local pub ~  rootbeer float ice cream in waffle cones at the Confectionery ~ leaf play with the grandgirls ~ a road trip to Winthrop MN that included a wonderful visit with my grandma, a decadent lunch of pizza, cake and ice cream, dancing, and a private piano concert performed by grandma. She gave us a beautiful flowering plant as a gift. So sweet! ~ a ton of apples from my friend Nancy’s backyard orchard… I made a huge batch of spiced cider applesauce for our 20th anniversary gathering party favors ~ Party Menu: crispy fried chicken, coleslaw, potato salad, chips, salsa, queso dip, frosted brownies, butternut banana cake with cream cheese frosting, veggies and dip, s’mores, mulled apple cider, wine, beer and cocoa ~ my favorite part of the evening was gathering with friends and family around a campfire, relaxing, laughing, catching up and visiting. (Unfortunately I didn’t get photos of everyone who attended…)

I hope your autumn has been beautiful so far.

XO,

~M
